Welcome to the Loyalsock Township School District! We are honored to serve our students, their families and the Loyalsock Township School District community. Here at Loyalsock we take great pride in offering a holistic approach to education. We feel that we have something to offer all of our students.

At Loyalsock, every student is important to the overall success of our school. We believe that everyone should have an opportunity to succeed at whatever they choose to pursue. Whether it is core academics and pursuing a college degree, learning a technical trade that you can continue to grow with at the collegiate level, or preparing for the work force after high school, we are committed to meeting the needs of all Loyalsock Township School District students. Our commitment to preparing college and career ready students is at the forefront of everything we do. We want our students to obtain a deep understanding of subjects that allows them to apply what they have learned creatively and effectively to a wide range of problems.

In order for this to happen, we need high quality aligned instructional systems. We have worked extensively on this over the past several years and will continue to align our instructional systems to meet state and national core standards. Our curriculum framework allows opportunities for cross-curricular opportunities in many subject areas. Examples include English Language Arts and Social Studies as well as Math and Science. Our professional staff members are dedicated to provide enriched learning opportunities for our students. Our coursework outlines not only the expectations of our students, but also the explanation of what students are expected to learn throughout the course.

At the Donald E. Schick Elementary School, students continue to enjoy our Innovative Play (iPlay) area. This is a state of the art area that will house a great deal of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) materials and supplies that will allow our students to invent, create, think, design, investigate, learn, solve, build, imagine, share, collaborate, make and succeed . This area will be used by all students and each classroom will spend an hour per six day cycle in the (iPlay) area. Additionally, complete grade levels will work together for an hour each six day cycle. We also have instituted and Innovative Career and Exploration (ICE) program for our fifth grade students. This program allows them to start exploring careers at an early age and students are provided with information about a variety of career options.

In the middle school, we have redesigned the delivery of our Mathematics program. We have added another math teacher to provide our students with more opportunities in math. We will continue to have some eighth grade students taking the Keystone Exam for mathematics. Our English Language Arts and Science program assessments demonstrate that we are preparing our students for success in these areas. Finally, we have realigned our Social Studies programs over the past several years and we provide an in-depth curriculum for our students. All students participated in our “IMPACT” program last year and this culminated with the presentation of many projects late in the school year. Our middle school team continues to work with positive behavior support programs and our teachers are committed to providing quality instruction in all areas to prepare our students that will ultimately prepare our students for transition to the high school.

The high school continues to adjust to meet the needs of our students and to prepare them for colleges, technical schools and hte workforce. We are expanding partnerships with business and industry and are pursing pre-apprenticeship programs.  Additionally, we now have college partnerships with the Pennsylvania College of Technology, Lycoming College, Harrisburg Area Community College, Keystone College and Mansfield University. We continue to look for ways to expand our offerings for our students and to provide them the ability to earn college credits while attending Loyalsock.

These are just a few examples of the great programming that his taking place for our students. Our core academics are very strong and we offer a rigorous program that challenges students to do their best and to become critical thinkers who master their subject matter. We have fantastic related arts programs in place with an outstanding music, band and art departments. Our extra-curricular activities for students provide something for everyone. We have athletic programs that compete at the state level on a frequent basis. Our Future Business Leaders of America program is growing and getting more competitive each year and has competed at the National level last year. Odyssey of the Mind programs continue to shine at the state and world level. Our concerts, musicals, and plays are attended by thousands of community members and the quality of each performance is remarkable.

We continue to develop a strong, positive culture and climate. The positive relationships between our students and employees carry over from the classroom into the community. Our employees will do everything they can to ensure the success of our students. They go above and beyond because they care deeply about our student success. This is demonstrated on a daily basis and I am very proud of the total team effort that is displayed when working with our students. Their success is our success!

We look forward to another fantastic year with our students. Thank you all for your continued support of our students and the Loyalsock Township School District. Together, we are making a positive difference in the lives of our children each and every day!
