District Goals -23/24 School year

  1. Transition new administrators into their respective positions to form a cohesive administrative team.
  2. Complete the Comprehensive Plan for the period 2024-2027.
  3. Continue to develop our support programs to address academic, behavioral, and social skills for our at-risk student population.
  4. Explore additional resources for students to support behavioral health concerns and address trends at each building level.
  5. Review and evaluate our curriculum needs by working with our Curriculum Coordinators at all levels to increase the academic performance of our students.
  6. Continue to address chronic absenteeism and attendance as this is a national problem affecting all schools.
  7. Communicate with our stakeholders using various social media channels as well as our newsletters to share District information and accomplishments of our students and staff.
  8. Protect and monitor our District technology against virus attacks. Protect District data and take precautions in order to recover from disruption or cyber attacks.

 

District Goals – 22/23 School Year

Attendance/Achievement

  1. Increase student attendance for those students who are chronically absent by 10% during the 2022-2023 school year.
  2. Increase overall student attendance by 2% during the 2022-2023 school year.
  3. Close the achievement gap that exists as a result of the learning loss. Improve over 2021-2022 assessments. Evidence used will include assessments from the local and state level including iReady and AimsWeb for grades K-8 and PSSA’s grades 3-8, Keystone Exams grades 9-12, AP Exams grades 10-12, and various other assessments.

Curriculum Framework

  1. Continue to support professional staff members with the implementation of iReady mathematics and iReady reading programs. Assess students several times throughout the school year to measure achievement growth of students.
  2. Review the K-12 mathematics curriculum for alignment and make recommendations to ensure our students are meeting core academic standards and improve scores on the Keystone Algebra I exam.

Professional Development

  1. Train both administrators and professional staff members on the requirements of Act 13 as it relates to the employee evaluation process. Bring in outside consultants as necessary to ensure that our staff members fully understand the implications of Act 13.
  2. Provide training to professional staff members to improve our Distance Education offerings. This includes digitizing our existing curriculum over the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years. Work with consultants to adapt our curriculum in order that it may be accessed anytime by students either in school or out of school.

Communication

  1. Promote Loyalsock Township School District activities through the use of various communication methods including social media to share District information and accomplishments to our students, staff and community.
  2. Increase our business, educational, and community partnerships with the Loyalsock Township School District.

Special Education

  1. Transition our new elementary Autistic Support program at Schick Elementary School and assess student and staff needs for the program.
  2. Develop and grow the District’s work-based learning program formerly managed through contracted services. This includes providing work experiences both here at Loyalsock and outside in our community.

Technology  

  1. Protect and monitor our District technology against virus attacks. Continue to protect District data and take precautions in order to recover from disruption or cyber-attacks.
  2. Provide support and training for the implementation of our edInsight data warehouse program.
  3. Ensure that the installation of our new intercom/internal communication system throughout the secondary campus meets the needs of our facilities as it relates to student safety.

  1. Implement the iReady Mathematics program with fidelity and monitor the progress of students throughout the school year. Review data reports throughout the school year.
  2. Perform a curriculum review of our English Language Arts (K-12). Review existing programs and curriculum and make recommendations for curriculum changes. Implement iReady reading in grades K-8 to support our after school and summer school programs.

Professional Development

  1. Expand our Data Summit to include a review of from state and local assessments, social and emotional learning and behavioral information. Make student recommendations based on detailed information from these assessments.
  2. Provide training for professional staff members and students on Career Education in the Workplace Standards. Implement SMART FUTURES career planning and portfolio platform. Ensure that student portfolios are completed at all levels and reviewed prior to the end of the school year.

Communication

  1. Promote Loyalsock Township School District activities through the use of various communication methods including social media to share District information and accomplishments to our students, staff and community.

  1. Transition our new K-2 Emotional Support Program, District Itinerant Emotional Support and our 6-8 Supplemental Learning Support programs that were previously supported through contracted services.
  2. Develop the District’s work-based learning program formerly managed through contracted services.

Technology  

  1. Protect and monitor our District technology against virus attacks. Continue to protect District data and take precautions in order to recover from disruption or cyber-attacks.
  2. Work with professional staff members and administrators to evaluate K-12 data analytics software systems and make a recommendation for purchase by the end of the 2021-2022 school year.

 

DISTRICT GOALS – 20/21 School Year

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT

  1. Develop a Continuity of Education Plan that ensures our students continue to learn, grow and succeed during these challenging times. Work with our administrative team and professional staff members to provide the necessary tools and training in order to deliver high quality instruction for our students.
  1. Provide guidance and training for students on Career Pathways for students in accordance with the Pennsylvania Department of Education guidelines. Provide training for professional staff members on Career Education in the Workplace Standards. Implement SMART FUTURES career planning and portfolio platform.
  1. Continue to provide additional learning opportunities for all students attending the schools of Loyalsock Township School District through college/university partnerships and occupational placements.

 

CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK                                                        

  1. Provide a high-quality, aligned K-12 instructional system with well-designed curriculum frameworks. Specific focus will be on grades K-8 curriculum alignment. Develop a curriculum review cycle to focus on review of core subject matter.
  1. Ensure continuation of delivering a rigorous, relevant curriculum that challenges our students to comprehend, analyze, articulate and apply what they have learned both inside and outside of the classroom.

 

Professional Development

  1. Adjust professional development activities to prepare our professional staff to deliver synchronous instruction as well as prepare to educate students for both hybrid and remote learning opportunities.
  1. Use our Act 48 Professional Development Team to plan, organize, and direct professional development activities for staff members that are applicable to best practices for instructional delivery.

 

Communication

  1. Maximize the use of social media to communicate District information to our students, staff and community members.
  1. Grow our business, educational, and community partnerships to benefit the students, families and employees of the Loyalsock Township School District.

 

Special Education

  1. Transition our two new elementary programs (Emotional Support and Supplemental Learning Support), formerly delivered through contracted services, to better meet the needs of our students.
  1. Support our students through evaluations and knowledge of services available to support our neediest students. Continue to support students and their families through the Individualized Education Program process.
  1. Develop the District’s work-based learning program that was formerly managed through contracted services.

 

Technology

  1. Protect and monitor our District technology against virus attacks and modify our recovery plan as needed. Continue to protect District data and take precautions in order to recover from disruption or cyber-attacks.
  1. Deploy new and existing technology to best support our students and staff members. This includes both hardware and software programs.
  1. Catalogue both the hardware and software programs utilized by the Loyalsock Township School District and streamline procedures for use to allow professional staff to be more efficient with the use of their time.

Student Achievement

  1. Ensure that our Loyalsock Township School District high school graduates are College and Career Ready students who can succeed in both 2-year and 4-year college programs as well as entering the workforce.
  2. Provide guidance on Career Pathways for students in accordance with the Pennsylvania Department of Education guidelines. Identify the five career pathways for professional staff members and provide training.
  3. Increase opportunities for students by providing expanded college and career opportunities.

Curriculum Framework                                                      

  1. Provide all students with a deep understanding of subject matter that enables them to apply what they have learned effectively to a wide range of problems.
  2. Provide a high-quality aligned instructional system from grades K-12 with well-designed curriculum frameworks. Specific focus will be on grades K-8 as curriculum alignment from grades 6-12 will also be reviewed and revised as necessary.

Professional Development

  1. Continue to customize professional development for professional staff members that allows us to prepare students for College and Career Readiness and to meet the requirements of the Future Ready PA Index
  2. Support professional development within the school district, across the state and the United States that allows our support staff, professional staff, and administrators access to training that allows them to expand their knowledge base and to share their knowledge and experiences with other staff members.

Communication

  1. Share information with our students, staff and families through social media, use of school district applications, software programs and other means to increase awareness and communication regarding District policy and procedures, student handbooks, student information, activities, events and other areas of interest.

  1. Review all contracted services and evaluate the effectiveness of each service compared to providing the services through Loyalsock Township School District.
  2. Review programs and services offered and ensure compliance with Pennsylvania Department of Education guidelines.

  1. Protect and monitor our District technology against virus attacks and review modify our recovery plan as needed. Ensure that District data is protected and that we are able to recover in a timely manner after disruptions or attacks.
  2. Promote the use of technology and evaluate both educational and operational systems for opportunities to streamline processes and procedures to provide effective and efficient programs.

DISTRICT GOALS – 16/17 School Year

Student Achievement 

  1. Increase our student performance on Pennsylvania System of School Assessment, (PSSAs), Keystone, ACT and SAT exams.
  2. Increase our School Performance Profile Scores at all levels.
  3. Increase the number and performance of students taking Advanced Placement (AP) Exams and SAT assessments.

Curriculum 

  1. Complete alignment of curriculum from grades 6 through 12 in all core content areas.
  2. Increase Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) opportunities for students at all levels.
  3. Provide expanded opportunities for our students to earn college credits while in high school through agreements with Pennsylvania College of Technology, Keystone College and Harrisburg Area Community College.
  4. Continue to align our courses and adjust instruction to meet the requirements of the PA and Common Core Standards…

Communication

  1. Use our District newsletter as a tool to communicate with our parent and community members. Provide updates from the Board of School Directors and the Foundation on a regular basis.
  2. Use social media such as Parentlink, twitter, district website, blogs, and other medium to increase our communication with students, parents, and our community.
  3. Maintain visibility in our community including attendance at many of the District’s extracurricular events, community meetings and PTO meetings.

Curriculum

  1. Continued implementation of our Calkins writing series at the elementary school.
  2. Implement Collins Writing in the middle school.
  3. Continue to support AP courses at the high school level.
  4. Continue with PDE’s new Teacher Evaluation System and assist staff with Student Learning Objectives.
  5. Perform an independent evaluation of our curriculum offerings by our intermediate unit.
  6. Continue to align our courses and adjust instruction to meet the requirements of the PA and Common Core Standards and prepare students for Keystone Exams.
  7. Continue to improve the use of our Pennsylvania Institute of Instructional Coaching (PIIC) coaches.

Student Achievement
