Loyalsock Township School District
Library Media Centers
Philosophy

The Library Media Centers at both Schick Elementary and the Secondary Campus directly reflect the philosophy of the Loyalsock Township School District, in that, we seek to prepare students for future challenges, engage students in holistic learning, and inspire students to reach their full potential.

Library services will be provided in a safe, secure environment that encourages student growth and learning by offering students developmentally appropriate digital and print resources and activities that meet student’s individual academic and personal needs.

The Library Media Centers will be recognized as the center of academic activity within the school. The Library Media Center staff support the district’s curricular objectives by building collaborative relationships with classroom teachers. The librarian will be the instructional companion for teachers by providing leadership and expertise in assessing resources and information. This collaboration allows for teachers and the librarian to implement effective activities to achieve the district’s academic goals.

Vision

The Library Media Center will serve as the focal point for information, technology and literature for students, teachers, and administrators. The Library Media Center will provide students with the necessary skills and resources to become self-directed and responsible citizens who effectively utilize information to become lifelong learners and to appreciate the love of reading.

Many book titles can be added at the student’s request, and will appear on the student’s iPad within a few hours.
