Loyalsock has a long tradition of musical excellence and the Lancer Choir is no exception. This group, open to all high school students, is comprised of 50-80 talented young singers. In addition to learning and performing repertoire ranging from classical to folk and pop music, students in the Lancer Choir develop skills in improvisation and musical arranging. The Choir’s performances regularly showcase talented student soloist and small groups, as well as demonstrate the incredible opportunities musical education affords our students to develop life-long skills in collaboration, communication, adaptability, and emotional intelligence.
The Lancer Choir serves as the parent ensemble for three Co-Curricular groups: Knight Music, Men’s Ensemble, and Women’s Ensemble. Each years, students in grades 8-12 may audition for membership in these groups. The Co-Curricular Ensemble rehearse beyond the regular Choir class time, giving these students the chance to form closer relationship with one another and further explore their potential as vocal musicians
Every year, students in the Lancer Choir also have the opportunity to participate in various musical festivals ranging from large choral festivals with 160 from nearly 50 school districts to more close-knit vocal jazz ensembles. Men are also given special opportunities to attend all-male festivals.
