Odyssey of the Mind (OotM) is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Students use their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics.
The teams perform their solutions to judges and the public at competitions on the regional, state, and world level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program.
Coaches need to sign in to this site to take full advantage of all the features! (Remember, you must register first with the district in order to sign in).
Odyssey of the Mind Season
The Odyssey season starts in September with registration night. Teams are formed in October and begin to practice. In early spring, teams are given the chance to perform their skit for family, friends, and the public at the school district’s OotM Exhibition. Finally, it’s competition time:
- Regional Tournament in March – 1st and 2nd place teams progress to State Finals
- State Finals in April – 1st and 2nd place teams progress to World Finals
- World Finals in May – international event held in either Iowa or Michigan
