Student Records

Parent-Student Rights

School districts are required to annually notify parents and guardians of their right to inspect, review, copy or request correction of their child’s records unless specifically denied by a court order or similar legal document, or by the child himself/herself if eighteen years of age or older.

Unless access has been limited, federal regulations give both natural parents, regardless of their marital status, the right to review their child’s educational records.

It is the responsibility of the parent seeking to deny access to the records to provide the school district with a copy of the court order or legal document prohibiting the other parent from accessing the records. Barring such advance notification, the school district may presume the requesting parent has the authority to inspect and review the child’s records.

Parents having questions about the student records policy may contact their child’s building principal.

Location of Records

Student records are located in the office of the school buildings. Information is collected and maintained under such confinements of privacy as may be obtained through informed consent, verification of accuracy, limited access and appropriate use.

Should your child transfer to another school district, his/her permanent records, testing record and health record will be forwarded to the new school upon receipt of written notification of admission.

Transcript Release Form

By filling-out the Transcript Release Form, the student of the application is authorizing Loyalsock Township High School to send that student’s transcript, which contains a record of high school courses, class rank and College Entrance Exam scores, to any post-secondary institution(s) upon that student’s request. If the student wishes for a particular test score to appear on the transcript, then that item must be indicated in this form.

Transcript Requests

A copy of a student’s high school transcript will be provided upon written authorization from the parent, current student or graduate. Please contact the high school Counseling Office at (570) 326-3713 for further information regarding transcript requests.
