The demerit system is not intended to be solely punitive. Instead, the demerit system was activated with the goal of teaching students how to self-monitor behaviors and evaluate choices to best represent not only her/himself, but also the student body of Loyalsock Township High School. A student who earns 6 or more demerits in the first semester will lose the eligibility to participate and attend a prescribed set of extra-curricular events and activities for the remainder of the first semester. When a student earns a total of 12 or more demerits in the school year, s/he will lose all prescribed extra-curricular privileges for the remainder of the school year.
