2015-2016 District Goals

Communication

  1. Use our District newsletter as a tool to communicate with our parent and community members. Provide updates from the Board of School Directors and the Foundation on a regular basis.
  2. Use social media such as Parentlink, twitter, district website, blogs, and other medium to increase our communication with students, parents, and our community.
  3. Maintain visibility in our community including attendance at many of the District’s extracurricular events, community meetings and PTO meetings.

Curriculum

  1. Continued implementation of our Calkins writing series at the elementary school.
  2. Implement Collins Writing in the middle school.
  3. Continue to support AP courses at the high school level.
  4. Continue with PDE’s new Teacher Evaluation System and assist staff with Student Learning Objectives.
  5. Perform an independent evaluation of our curriculum offerings by our intermediate unit.
  6. Continue to align our courses and adjust instruction to meet the requirements of the PA and Common Core Standards and prepare students for Keystone Exams.
  7. Continue to improve the use of our Pennsylvania Institute of Instructional Coaching (PIIC) coaches.
  8. Evaluate course offerings and adjust curriculum offerings as needed.

Student Achievement

  1. Increase the number of students taking AP Exams and SATs.
  2. Increase our student performance on Keystone Exams, PSSAs, and other assessments.
  3. Increase our School Performance Profile Scores.

Technology

  1. Move forward with our iPad initiative and include grades 6 and 7.
  2. Continue to pursue the best and most efficient use of technology resources.
  3. Work with our principals to set up our own Cyber School and continue to promote our own virtual opportunities.

Student Services and Special Education

  1. Evaluate the effectiveness of our Career Education Program and make recommendations for future changes.
  2. Continuous review of our special education services and recommendations to ensure the services provided to the District are effective and efficient.
  3. Reduce the number of contract services.
