Challenge Yourself
Students can further challenge themselves through Honors, Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment opportunities.
Honors Courses
Honors courses offer a more rigorous learning experience, encouraging critical thinking, collaboration and deeper exploration of course content. Honors coursework is weighted as part of a student’s grade point average.
Advanced Placement (AP)
AP courses provide college-level instruction while students are still in high school. Students who earn qualifying AP Exam scores may receive college credit, advanced placement or both at many colleges and universities. AP coursework receives additional GPA weighting.
Dual Enrollment
Eligible students may earn college credit by enrolling in approved dual enrollment courses while completing high school graduation requirements. Dual enrollment provides an opportunity to experience college coursework and begin earning credits before graduation.
Planning for the Future
Every student works closely with the School Counseling Office to develop an individualized academic plan that supports graduation requirements and future goals. Whether planning for college, career and technical education, military service or the workforce, counselors provide guidance every step of the way.
Students interested in career and technical education can explore specialized programs through partnerships with the Williamsport Area High School Career & Technical Education Program and Lycoming Career & Technology Center (LycoCTC), providing hands-on learning opportunities in a variety of career fields while while remaining enrolled at LTHS
