Prior to his appointment as Superintendent, he served as the Business Manager for 13 years. Mr. McLaughlin previously served in both the Halifax Area School District and the Canton Area School District.
Mr. McLaughlin graduated from Wesley College in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. Additionally, he received a Master of Education Degree from Wilkes University in May 2013. He received his Superintendent’s Commission on July 1, 2014. Mr. McLaughlin has also taken coursework at Lebanon Valley College and Bloomsburg University.
Mr. McLaughlin is an avid supporter of Loyalsock Township School District programs and services. He was a volunteer boys’ basketball coach with the junior varsity and varsity programs for 11 years. He enjoys attending a variety of events to support students including band, choral, Odyssey of the Mind, plays, athletic events, and anywhere our Loyalsock students are participating.
Mr. McLaughlin is a veteran and served on active duty in the United States Air Force for 8 years. He also served in the Delaware Air National Guard for 15 years. He retired from the service as a Chief Master Sergeant.
Mr. McLaughlin was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials where he was a Pennsylvania Registered School Business Administrator (PRSBA). He is currently a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators (PASA). The American Association of School Administrators (AASA) and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD). He serves on the Williamsport Advisory Board of the River Valley Regional YMCA, the River Valley Regional YMCA Advisory Board, the United Way Education Representative and the Lycoming County Chamber of Commerce as the Education Representative.
Away from school, Mr. McLaughlin enjoys running and biking. He has two grown children, Andrew and Heather, who have both graduated from college.
