LTSD Implements New School Visitor Procedure

LTSD will soon implement a new and comprehensive district security management system and is urging parents and community members to familiarize themselves with the new procedures to help keep all students safe at all times.

All buildings currently use single-point of entry access, with all doors locked during school hours. On April 24th, 2019, all LTSD schools will begin using the Raptor Visitor Management System to control visitor intake and strengthen campus safety for students and faculty.

Visitors entering a district building will be asked to present a government-issued form of identification. The identification is then scanned or manually entered into the Raptor system by a staff member.

The Raptor system checks the visitor information against a national database of registered sex offenders. No other data is gathered, recorded or stored and the information is not shared with any outside agency.

If a parent or guardian does not have a government-issued ID, a school staff member can use any form of identification that contains the first name, last name, date of birth and photo to manually enter the visitor’s name into the Raptor system.

Once entry is approved, the visitor will receive a printed badge. A badge will not be necessary for those visiting school to simply drop off an item or pick up paperwork within the main office.

For class parties and other school events during the day, teachers will send information seeking expected attendance. Please be sure to respond to any information regarding your attendance as pre-screening will ensure a quicker process upon arriving.

Please be sure to bring appropriate identification with you when entering a school. Thank you in advance for understanding and your support in enhancing the school safety protocols in our district.
